One of the most important natural resources in Canada's Northern region, that creates many jobs for citizens, comes from mining. The minerals found are zinc, lead, gold, diamonds, natural gas and oil.

- coats iron, steel, and other metals, to prevent rusting.
- used to produce cosmetics, paint, and plastic.

• Lead
- used in batteries and protection from radiation.

• Gold
- gold bars, jewelry, electronic parts, and dental work.

• Diamonds
- jewelry, drill bits, and other industrial tools.

• Natural Gas and Oil
- energy (heat, power, fuel)
- by-products
